Migrating from Documents to Forms
What's Changed
Starting in Summer 2024, some Samsara customers will by default have a new experience for submitting what Samsara has historically called Driver Documents. The Driver Documents will split into two capabilities:
- Route Documents -- functionality intended to enable existing TMS integrations. Route Documents are fully customizable, and must be filled out through a route stop. Route Documents is located in the Dashboard navigation menu under Dispatch. In the Samsara Driver App, there will no longer be a Documents tile. Route Documents must be submitted through a route stop, and drivers will be able to see all submitted documents in the Route tile.
- Connected Forms -- predetermined templates for ad hoc submission of fuel receipts, proof of delivery, and bill of lading outside of route stops or for customers who don’t use routing. This is submitted through the Forms tile on the driver app. It is available for all TMS customers
Integrations Changes Required
If your Routing or TMS integration only creates Driver Documents tied to Route Stops, no changes to your integration code is required. Drivers just need to be trained to submit Documents from the Route Stops in the Routes tile, since the Document tile will no longer be available.
If your Routing or TMS integration creates Driver Documents that aren't tied to Route Stops, these won't be accessible to the driver. You would need to recreate the assignment of these workflows using Forms -- refer the Forms and Workflows Developer Guide to get started.
If you are not able to make integration changes to use Forms instead of Driver Documents and you have an impending TMS integration deployment that is blocked on this change, please reach out to [email protected]
